More than 30 dive sites

Mataking, along with the islands of Timba-Timba, Pandanan, Bohayan, Baturua, Kalapuan and Mantabuan and the Tun Sakaran Marine Park, features more than 30 excellent dive sites. The unique geography of Mataking makes it possible for scuba divers to experience both large pelagics and macro marine life on a single dive site. Nitrox is available, and the dive centre offers private and personalised divemaster or instructor services.

PADI dive courses

The Mataking dive centre offers a selection of PADI courses: Discover Scuba Diving, Open Water Scuba Diver, Advanced Open Water Diver, Rescue Diver and EFR, and specialty courses.

Snorkeling

Snorkeling is excellent right in front of the villas and at a large selection of the dive sites.

Underwater post box

The Mataking 1, a wooden cargo boat sunk off the resort in March 2006 as an artificial reef, holds an underwater post box. Divers can send a waterproof postcard from it.

Sipadan Island

Sipadan diving and snorkelling can be arranged. Diving at Sipadan requires Advanced Open Water or an equivalent certification. The Sipadan permit must be requested well in advance, so include your preferred dates and certification level in your enquiry.
