Getting to Mataking Island

Mataking Island is on the east coast of Sabah, Borneo, East Malaysia, one of the tropical islands of the Semporna group. You reach it by flying to Tawau, then by road and speedboat.

Fly to Tawau

Direct flights are available to Tawau Airport from Kuala Lumpur, and via Kota Kinabalu from Singapore, Hong Kong, Korea, the Philippines, Taiwan and more.

Tawau to Semporna, then by speedboat

From Tawau Airport, the transfer by coach to the Semporna jetty takes about 1 hour 20 minutes. From Semporna, a speedboat takes you to Mataking Island in approximately 40 minutes.
